Rubiks 360

30 years after inventing the fascinating Rubik’s Cube, professor Erno Rubik has devised a new fantastic new puzzle, the Rubik’s 360 to frustrate and delight us. Oh and this time it’s round hence the name. The Rubik’s 360 consists of six colored balls contained in three transparent plastic spheres and the aim is to move the balls from the inner sphere into their matching colored slots in the outer sphere.

Professor Erno Rubik feels that the Rubik’s 360 is one of the most innovative and exciting puzzles developed since the Rubik’s Cube. Adopting elements of the original design the Rubik’s 360 challenges the solver to use skill, dexterity and logic.

Rubik said that Rubik’s 360 is "a more kinetic challenge, more physical, because gravity is involved, so those expecting a brainteaser might be better served rifling through the bottom drawer for the original Rubik’s Cube."

The Rubik’s 360 involves moving six balls all of a different color in a central sphere to six compartments of the same colour in the outer sphere. You do by shaking them through a middle sphere that only has two holes, there are three spheres that make up the Rubik’s 360. Unlike the original Rubik's Cube, there seem to be no algorithms and, in general, less mathematics associated with the Rubik’s 360. Also there is a factor of manual dexterity involved in the solution, that was unnecessary with the original Rubik's Cube.

The Rubik's 360 has only one solution, but you cannot break it up to solve it. The Rubik's 360 is suitable for all ages and according to first views it is very addictive and engaging.

The Rubiks Cube even after 30 years was still one of the most poplar toys sold last Christmas ant the eagerly anticipated Rubik's 360 will will no doubt be a top toy for Christmas 2009.
